Types of Fishing Reels
for every Fishing Condition

Various types of fishing reels are available. They come in many sizes, shapes and in a wide price range. Basically, there are four types:
1. Spincasting 2. Spinning 3. Baitcasting 4. Fly Fishing

Spincasting reels are the basic type and best suited for the beginning angler. They are usually mounted on top of the rod and are covered with a metal or plastic housing. They are easy to use, but have less line capacity than baitcast or spinning models.

Spinning reels are the most common type. The lure is cast from an open spool reel, which is mounted on the bottom of the rod.

Bait casting models are mounted on top of the rod. It takes more practice to use these reels, but with a little practice a beginner can use them.

Fly fishing reels are placed in the seat under the hand grip of the rod. Popular are the single action models. They are easy to use and are usually very light.
