Shimano was established in 1921 to produce a bicycle freewheel. It added Shimano fishing reels and other products for outdoor sports. Shimano is now a worldwide company.

Shimano markets a large variety of conventional, baitcasting and spinning reels. The Shimano Sienna Spinning Reel is an affordable model that utilizes the Super Stopper with a one way roller bearing. The stopper eliminates back play. Price is about $30.



The Shimano Stradic Reel costs about $145-190. Features include:
1. Magnesium frame, a graphite side plate and a graphite rotor
2. Aluminum spool provides increased strength and durability
3. Titanium coated stainless steel spool lid reduces friction during the cast and increases durability
4. Specially treated stainless steel ball bearings are more corrosion resistant than standard stainless steel ball bearings

The Sahara Spinning models cost about $60. They feature an aluminum frame, a forged aluminum sppol, super slow oscillation and waterproof drag. The anti rust bearings are smooth, silent and strong.
