Various lens materials and tints are available. Glass lenses have great optical quality and are scratch resistant. They are heavy and break easy.
Polycarbonate lenses are lightweight and highly shatter resistant. They are easier to scratch than glass.
Acrylic lenses are the cheapest, but still eliminate most of the glare.

Lenses with a modest amount of blue or brown tint provide good protection. They are considered a good tint for fishing. Copper is soothing to the eyes and and is also good for fishing.
