Night Fishing Gear to make
your Fishing safe and enjoyable

The right night fishing gear is important for successful and enjoyable fishing. Preparation and organization of the equipment is more important for night fishing than for daytime fishing.

If you are fishing from a boat, your boat needs to be equipped as required by the U.S. Coast Guard. Items required should be kept in a convenient and accessible location:
1. Life jackets
2. Fire extinguisher
3. Signal flares
4. Noise maker
5. Running lights
6. Paddle

Recommended equipment:
1. Cell phone
2. VHF radio to receive weather reports and call for help, if needed
3. First aid kit
4. Anchor to keep the boat in a location in case of trouble
5. Flashlights and batteries
6. Basic tools
7. A portable navigation unit and compass are strongly recommended

Helpful equipment that will make night fishing easier:
1. Lighted tackle box
2. Headlamp
3. Fluorescent fishing line
4. Glow in the dark fishing lures

Organize and prepare your night fishing equipment and you will have a comfortable, safe and enjoyable outing.
