Follow Kayaking Safety Rules when Kayak Fishing
Kayaking can be dangerous if you are not properly prepared. Kayaking safety rules and the right equipment on board can add to safety and fun. Always use common sense and follow safety rules:
1. Always wear a U.S. Coast Guard approved life jacket. 2. Obtain necessary paddling skills. 3. Tell friends and family where you are going and how long you plan to be gone. 4. Follow all local, state and federal laws. 5. Be aware of weather conditions. 6. Have a waterproof weather radio on board. 7. Bring plenty of drinking water and food. 8. Wear sunglasses and use a strap for attaching the glasses to your head. 9. Dress properly for existing weather conditions. 10. Carry a whistle or flares to attract other boaters or people. 11. Have a flotation bag that you can clip on the inside front or back of the kayak. 12. Have a cell phone with you.
