Ice Fishing Flies
with good Action

Ice fishing flies should be easy to tie. Many flies are fitted with a brass head so they can sink faster. Choose types that have a lot of motion. Popular colors are white and yellow.

Use a light and flexible rod for panfish and perch. A short and firm rod is better for walleye.

Size 10-14 hooks are recommended for panfish. Size 3 hooks with a short shank are great for walleye.

For panfish, a light monofilament line with a 2-4 pound test is good. Quality guides, a quality rod blank and a good reel will make a good combo.

The color of the flies is important. White, red and black are popular.

Ice fishing can be enjoyable, especially with friends and family. Always carry your fishing license and proper fishing gear. Review: Ice Fishing Equipment
