Know the Characteristics
of various Fish Species

A large variety of fish species can be found in different areas and climates. Fish have different characteristics and behavior. They are cold blooded organisms. Their temperature and behavior is influenced by the temperature of the water.

Different kinds of fish prefer a variety of protection or cover. Crappies like brush, largemouth bass prefer downed trees, smallmouth bass like rocks and other fish like weed beds.

Most fish can see about 20-40 feet in clear water. They are sensitive to underwater sounds, but cannot hear sounds made above water.

Some fish feed during the day, others like walleye feed much at night. Morning and evening are the best times to fish.
