Boating Safety is
important for successful Fishing

Boating safety means that you should be prepared for emergencies. You should know how to operate your boat properly and have the right equipment on board.

Items required on small boats by the U.S. Coast Guard: life jackets, a fire extinguisher, signal flares, a noise maker and running lights.

A cellular telephone and a VHF radio are recommended. They will allow you to receive weather reports and transmit requests for assistance. A first aid kit can also be helpful.

If you fish alone, pick an area where other anglers are present. Warm clothing is important in late fall. Clothing should be water and wind resistant.

During summer months use sunscreen and wear a long sleeve shirt and long pants. Non slip shoes and an umbrella are recommended.Polarized sunglasses will help you see the fish, rocks and tree stumps better. You should also have some tools like knives, adjustable pliers and screwdrivers.

This is not a complete list, but these items will improve safety.
