Abu Garcia was founded in 1921 in Sweden to make watches. Abu Garcia fishing reels were introduced in 1941. The popular Ambassadeur reel was brought to market in 1952. The product line now includes baitcast reels, spinning reels, spincast reels, combos and reel accessories.
The freshwater baitcast Revo reels cost about $100-200, depending on the model. These low profile models feature several innovative designs. The Duragear is an oversized brass main gear that provides maximum power. The carbon matrix drag system provides great smoothness. Aluminum components make this reel lightweight and durable.
The saltwater baitcast Ambassadeur reels cost about $150. Spinning reels are available for freshwater, saltwater and ice fishing. Several freshwater Cardinal models are available that cost about $30-140. The saltwater spinning models cost about $70-140. Ice fishing reels with an aluminum spool cost about $30. The freshwater spincast reels cost about $26-50.
Abu Garcia reels are also offered with matched graphite rods. The freshwater combo with an Ambassadeur reel costs about $65. The two piece salmon steelhead combos cost about $90-95. The ice fishing combos come in 24" and 28" sizes. Price is about $40.
